Respect the Earth and A Special Reading

Hello there my Tarot Tots! It's time for something extra special. It's a very special day. I almost forgot. But how could I forget.... It's EARTH DAY!!!

Today I want to talk to you about a few things that I think are very important, things that I think I want to change around my own household as well. First, we need to find some information on the history of Earth Day. Earth Day's very first celebration was on April 22nd of 1970. It was founded by a gentleman named Gaylord Nelson. He is a lovely chap from Wisconsin, who was committed to the idea of making the world a better place with his renown as a politician and environmentalist.

You can find more information on Gaylord Nelson on THIS wikipedia page. You can find some more tips on things you can do to improve your carbon footprint and the things you can do to help our planet HERE.

THIS is a video on the history of Earth Day.
THIS is a video on some more history and things of Earth Day.
AND THIS.... is a mega cool video on some things that are crafty that you can do for around your home. Political views in the video are not ones that I share, but the video is well worth the watch.

I found a few interesting resources on different types of dinnerware that you can use that are made out of bamboo and such that were really well done.

Here are reusable straws. You wouldn't believe how much just using a reusable straw can make an impact on the planet and your carbon footprint.

Here is "Bamboozled," which is a site you can visit to buy dinnerware, cookware, and such that are made from bamboo. You can get a lot of uses out of the ones on this website!

This is a fun website on earthen homesteads (or green homes).
I saw THESE houses and absolutely fell in love. Tell me which one you like in the comments!

Where I live, there are not any recycling services that are really close. The closest one is approximately 30-45 minutes away by automobile. But, the important part of this is putting in the effort.

I did a bit of research and found some very interesting stuff on how to recycle.

This is a website page with some super great recycling tips.

And now.... For what you have been waiting for.... A special little oracle reading using The Druid Plant Oracle. I am using this particular oracle deck because I thought it to be appropriate for the holiday. Last year I only pulled one card. This year I have done a very generic spread and pulled FOUR!

Here we go:

Position 1:
Chamomile-- Rest, Guardianship, Regneration.
I believe this is the cards telling us that we need to help our planet get it's sickness away from it. We are causing it so much pain. Can we do something to help? I think so. Chamomile is a very calming plant that helps one sleep.

Position 2:
Comfrey-- Structure, Ancestral Foundations, Fusion
This is also a healing card. But this one focuses on the bones and skeletal structure of what the client (In this case, Earth) needs help with. There are levels to things that we need to do. Do you know how to help?

Position 3:
Plantain-- Assertiveness, Calm, Resilience
Our planet is a very resilient one. But this is not something that will always be if we keep up the things we are doing now without offering aid to our dear planet. What can you do?

Position 4- The Overseer:
Mint-- Clarity, Concentration, Renewal
As the "Overseer" card of this card shows that we, as the overseers of this planet, require great focus on what troubles us. We cannot just let things float on as they go. If we continue to focus on things that are destructive, we will only get destructive energy and results in return. Like attracts like they say. So what do we do?

There are so many different paths we can take. Perhaps you will see some of the links and things that I have posted in this article. They are important and may help you help our planet in a few simple ways. Even the smallest step is the best step we can take sometimes.

Weekend Forecast 2-23 to 2-25-2018

Greetings my little darklings and snarklings!

It is I, your Auntie Vyvyan, the Wormwood Oracle!

Today is a day for a weekend forecast. Bet you missed these dincha'? I am using the Lo Scarabeo Tarot of Mermaids today. I hope you enjoy. I know I did.

Friday:
2 of Pentacles (upright)--(pearls) Looks like today might be payday for some of you. This is a day to balance your checkbook and maybe buy into a new venture. You could really bank on something new if you really wanted to. Spoil yourself a little; just so long as you are able to in moderation. This card is about being level headed, so keep your cool and don't let the world hassle you.

Saturday:
IX The Hermit (reversed)-- You are lacking information into something that you are currently working on. Remember that thing from yesterday? Well it seems like something is going to go on between now and then and they will cause a bit of a jumble. Take some time to yourself and go about your thought process to figure it out. Perhaps a brain dump would be handy. I also suggest taking up bullet journaling; it helps me a lot!

Sunday:
6 of Swords (upright)--(tridents) Whoops! Looks like you've taken things a bit TOO far. I'm sure you didn't mean to. This is something you need a Plan B on. Be very careful in what you are currently trying to do. It could be something from the past few days, it could be something else that has cropped up. Just be careful.

I wish you all the best in the world.

Cheers.

Weekend Forecast: 9-1 to 9-3 2017

Hello my little Tarot Tots!

It's time for another weekend tarot forecast! I haven't done this in a while so I might be a little rusty. I'm trying really hard to get back into the swing of things like I used to do. This is the Manga Tarot by Selena Lin.

Let's get to it:

Friday 9-1-2017: 7 of Swords (Reversed): This Friday is going to be mega scattered. Everything is going to go willy-nilly and you need to be prepared for all sorts of backlash. If you have a project going, you might want to put it off until tomorrow. If you do take on a project, just be prepared It's a bumpy ride. Thankfully, you will learn some sort of lesson from it. These are the things we usually do.

Saturday 9-2-2017: Ace of Swords: THIS is the day to get stuff done. We're all very motivated and it's going to be a magical day. You'll definitely want to work on yesterday's project today. It's going to be amazing. And you'll have the experience from yesterday to get it done properly.

Sunday 9-3-2017: I The Magician (Reversed): This is a bad day. Bad with a capital B. If you are still working on that project, you better learn to take it slow. Maybe that's the lesson that you had to learn the past couple of days. Maybe you are just now learning these things. That might be what is going to be slow going. Just take your time.

In recap: This weekend is going to be one where you're going to need to go as slow as you can and be patient. You'll get there but it might take a while.

Lots of love,

The Darkling Tag

Greetings my little Tarot Tots!

Today I am doing a quiz so you can get to know me a little better. Of course this is a rather gothically inclined quiz, but seeing as I am a goth and like to revel in my dark dark darkity dark-ness, I figured I would do it. So here we go:

What is your favourite candle scent? Darkest Sandalwood. It's very rich.
Do you have a favourite book? I couldn't say. I think "Paint it Black" by Voltaire or the "Goth Bible" (which is a history of the gothic subculture and very informative)
Are you a tea or coffee person? Both. Mostly tea, though.
What is your favourite perfume/cologne? I'm preferable to citrusy, fruitsy scents, but also things that are a bit musky. I don't like dainty scents.
Do you have a celebrity crush? Hmm... Pinhead from Hellraiser. Totally.
If you could change your name to a stereotypical 90s/2000s gothy name, what would it be? I already go by a stereotypical one: Raven!
What are your top three tips for surviving hot weather while black clad? sunscreen, light fabric like a cotton or a fishnet, and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
What song always makes you happy (doesn't have to be a goth band?) "It's Like That" by RUN-DMC
Are you active in the arts (eg. Play an instrument, paint, write, etc)? Yap. I paint, I play a few instruments, I sew, I craft, I build.... I like to refer to myself as a #hobbyhoarder
What is your number one non-gothy hobby? uh.... crochet?

Thought Provokers:

If you could be a supernatural creature, what would it be and why? I think a Lamia. I dunno. Just thought it would be kind of neat.

What horror monster-bases super power would you have? pyrokinesis? I like fire. (Heh heh fire fire Heh)

Do you feel confident or comfortable interacting with other Goths or gothy people (online or irl)? Why or why not? Of course I'm confident about talking to other goths. Other goths understand some of my thoughts so I enjoy that!

Is there something you wish there was more of in your subculture? Less drama. Damn.

Care to share an embarrassing story related to your "darkliness"? I once told someone that they should get a tattoo and didn't notice they had a sleeve. Ugh. (does that count?)

How are you at DIY? I'm alright. I do enjoy crafting in a variety of ways.

Confessional (aka True or False):

I love watching cheese romance films. False. They make me cry and that ruins my makeup. Boo.

I ALWAYS remember to was off my makeup at night. False. Sorry.

I sleep with plushies. True! I have two mouse stuffies.

I wear non-black pyjamas most nights. True. I have several pyjamas with cats on them so I wear those. They're usually night shirts.

I think Andrew Eldrich is overrated. False.

I don't like vampires. False, but I'm particular as to which kind I like.

I don't like clubs. False! Clubs are awesome!!!

I don't enjoy graveyards. False. It's a great place to have picnics with deceased loved ones and ancestors.

Blood makes me queasy. False. Bring it on.

I'd sooner faint than pet a spider. True. I do like how they look though,

I don't like haunted houses. True, if this is about like.... scare houses. If it's about real spirits I have no issue.

I've never read Dracula. True. It's such a dry read. But it's on my to-do list.

I think "Bela Lugosi's Dead" is a long and boring song. Could go either way. True, very long. False to boring. Unless you play it on repeat for hours and hours. Then we might have problems.

So that's me. I hope that enlightens people on some things about myself.

Lots of love,

Weekend Forecast 8-4-17 to 8-6-17

Hey there my little Tarot Tots!

It's time for another round of my Weekend Forecast. Today, I am reading from Florida, but this should post as I am leaving. I cannot wait for all of this to pop up on your feed. It's all very exciting after all.

Let's dive in, shall we?

Friday 8-4-17: 4 of Pentacles (reversed): Friday is going to be a process of a day. There's going to be a lot of people trying to get things crammed into your day. It's going to be insanely busy and it might even be materialistically busy. I don't doubt it, as I believe this weekend is tax free weekend in some places. It's definitely going to be quite the hassle.

Saturday 8-5-17: 9 of Wands (reversed): Looks like Saturday is not your day either. I see a lot of obstacles that need to be checked out. You're going to want to just give up what's stressing you out. I'm not sure what is stressing you out, but you definitely need to stop. You are draining your energy on this situation. Don't.

Sunday 8-6-17: King of Wands (reversed): You've left something until the last minute. A project? An assignment? SOMETHING!!! You need to pick THAT up and get to work. Procrastination does not help anyone's stress levels. You can do this. I have your back.

Lots of love for this weekend everyone. Be cautious.

Happy Lughnasadh!

Hey there my little Tarot Tots!

Today is a special day: It's Lughnasadh! You can also call this holiday Lammas. It is the mark of the beginning of the festival season. It is based on the name of the god Lugh, who was a sun god.

I can't say I can give you a ton of information on this holiday, it's not one of the holidays I typically celebrate much. This tends to be mostly Wiccan and neopagan people who celebrate this holiday, aside from the peoples of the Celtic area who would celebrate these holidays normally.

I just wanted to let out a small blurb to wish you all a happy harvest beginning.

Monday Musings- Passing the Seasons

Hey there my little Tarot Tots!

Today, I am working from a prompt (as I do very often) that is asking me this question:

"What is your favorite season of the year and why? Does it involve memories? How do you celebrate now?"

(you can find where I am picking prompts from at the prompt place.)

So this is a pretty good question. I'm sitting here enjoying the summer where I am at, but it is most definitely not my favorite season. Could be my second favorite season since you get to go swimming and I am very partial to being able to go swimming.

My favorite season of the year is autumn/fall. It's a very peaceful season and everything just seems like it is slowing down, which is nice, because I don't move very fast in the first place. The leaves are changing colours and are falling off of them like a strange rain.

Something else that is possibly the best thing about autumn is that it is the home of Halloween/Samhain; the greatest holiday in my opinion. It's the Celtic new year and the beginning of so many new things. They say it is a death festival, as it is about reconnecting with your ancestors. I've been thinking about this quite ab it lately and I don't know exactly what my thoughts are on it yet. I want to make sure I form some serious thoughts by the time this holiday comes around again.

I feel like with summer it is far too hot where I live. The other day it was about 106* plus the humidity was really high. I know that there are places elsewhere that are even hotter, and they probably have a similar thought process to me: "Summer is too hot!". Fall is just perfect because the weather is nice and calm and there is even a spot of rain here or there to cool things down even more. The closer it gets to winter, the colder it's chill, but that is better than hot, hot, hot.

I suppose the memories it invokes are ones around Halloween when my mother would make us all sorts of crazy costumes to wear out; not that she didn't make us costumes the rest of the year. We were encouraged to wear all sorts of costumes all the time and that dress up was one of the best things to do.

Nowadays, I celebrate by remembering ancestors and lighting candles and whatnot to remember the deceased and my boyfriend and my families. Recently, we lost his mother so we will be celebrating her life this year for Samhain. I think he will like that.

Thanks for listening to me ramble again. Monday musings are best musings.
